“ A Jewel In The Adelaide Hills”
Solitaire Estate is a boutique vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia near the township of Echunga some 34 kilometres from Adelaide and around 8 kilometres from the historic village of Hahndorf.
The 56 acre (22 hectare) parcel of land, was once part of an extensive acreage originally owned by one of Australia’s viticultural pioneers John Barton Hack. Hack grew grapes on his Echunga property in the 1840’s and even sent a sample of his ‘Hock’ to Queen Victoria.
Re-establishment of the vineyard began in 1999 with planting of sauvignon blanc, shiraz and riesling. Subsequent plantings have taken the area under wine to its present level of 22.6ha.
The location of the vineyard is 430 metres above sea level with a north westerly aspect providing long hours of sunlight to give excellent ripening conditions. The combination of the cool climate, altitude, soils and aspect provides perfect conditions to harvest exceptional quality fruit for producing award-winning wines.
By selecting and hand picking small parcels of the very best fruit and using state of the art winemaking technology, our winemaker continues to create a superb range of widley acclaimed wines.
In Australia, all our wines are sold exclusively to leading restaurants, private wine lovers.
